Fabia mk1 vrs remaps - talk to me!

Featured Replies

Hi all! So I've finally insured my car with a specialist so I can now modify it, hooray!

Anyway, I don't know a lot about remaps - are there good and bad ones, or is it more personal? Can anyone give me any insights?

Based in the north west if that makes any difference to recommendations!

Thanks

Give Faboka vrs (Hidden power) a message

Hi Loz. I would say a go for a low torque one to help the standard clutch last as I take it you just want to improve and not go down the replacement clutch route.

I would always say make sure boost is logged before and after to check its boosting ok. Seen some with crazy overboost after being mapped.

I have a shark stage one map on my vrs. Ment to be 170bhp and 300ftlb (not proven) still on stock cluch and flywheel not a problum. Its changed the car no end well worth the money

Thanks, are there any in particular that would be good? Does each place just offer one or can they alter them?

Unless you go custom most just scan for fault codes, flash a generic map and off you go.

I can't PM you for some reason be I now do remaps as a hobby.

Loz, you would be hard pushed to do much better than get Faboka to remap your car, especially since you're both in the North West of England.

He's too polite to say 'buy mine, they're the best' but it's true, so get to it.

Well impressed when I got my Edition 100 Superb (PD130) remapped by him... I even removed a remap from the car to get John’s put on! - faboka’s map drove MUCH better, very smooth and equally as quick as the Quantum Tuning remap that I took off... which was almost like on on / off switch and IMO ruined the car.

Take to bhp in Burnley there a chap there who teaches people how to map cars he really knows his stuff

I have a Shark stage 1 on my 2003 VRS. Great economy but not sure the turbo is boosting correctly. Anyhow, I'm now ready to give my vrs some new parts and take it to stage2. Am I right in thinking new/bigger intercooler and air intake pipe, replacement DMF clutch, new flat panel air filter, new pads for brakes (can't upgrade size as I use winter wheels in...winter), Miltek exhaust. Anything else I'm missing that will make a difference?

Thanks,

Adrian.

Hi Loz, are you on standard turbo?

I'm having PD150 fitted on my SE next month (you live near me I guess, so we can compare the difference between them if you want) so It should be safer to remap. (I'd avoid the local company in Irlam...after my previous remap done by them)

John, do you know which way does the PD150 compressor need turning? 90 degree clockwise or anticlockwise?

...sorry just googled it....90 deg. clockwise right?

Correct :)

What size of turbo are you thinking? Fmic is a must. No need for the exhaust or flat panel filter, unless you're going for a steveopc/coskev/Jason power figure. Only additional thing I can think of are longer head bolts.

But don't worry I'm sure the usual posters will be along soon to tell you more precisely what is needed.

Loz,

as people above me have said, talk to john and he should sort you out. I've had my hybrid pd150 mapped by him and its awesome to drive

Have a look at my sig below, it contains my full spec (apart from the LSD which isn't strictly required) mines a good base spec for the 200-220hp mark

Andy

Mine's is from Shark and came with the car, it drives much better than my other half's standard Ibiza FR (ASZ) and my car is much quicker too. It'll be Shark i speak to when i upgrade the turbo and go for more power.

PS - that's some spec in you sig Andy!
