Blue Vision

Featured Replies

Hello everyone, was delighted to receive my Philllips Blue Vision H4s and sidelights in the mail yesterday. Immediately fitted them though I must admit they weren't quite up to my expectaions. They weren't really blue at all. Just a little white. Haven't really driven them at night yet, thus have yet to evaluate the increase in range and brightness. Hope it doesn't disappoint. Will then probably get the H3s to complement them.

Any idea as to whether by self fitting the bulbs, I have somewhat affected the proper levelling of the beam? Have yet to properly evaluate the level. Contemplating going to the Dealer to have it checked just to be sure.

Any inputs?

Any inputs. Have

Hi pcmg,

I don't think fitting the bulbs yourself will affect the levels. just get it adjusted with a screw driver will do.

BTW, i understand from the guys that you are from SG? I am from Singapore too.

pcmg,

I fitted some philips blue vision (details) yesterday and thought that they did a good job as dipped bulbs - although not hugely blue as you said.

They did seem better than the standard bulbs, and the replacement ones I previously used... :)

I fitted Vision Plus from Powerbulbs - no difference the alignment after fitting at all and this was something I was worried about too.

I think you'll find that at night, the light will be more intense than the OE bulbs you had fitted and "Bluer" than you think!

Thanks for your positive imputs guys. Hope I won't be disappointed. Other than the Phillips BlueVision H3s, are there any other good brighter ones I could try for my fogs?

Lovely to know theres another Singaporean here. Are you driving an Octy or a Fab? Auto? Manual? Any Mods Yet?

Regards

Praveen

hi pcmg

I own a 1.8TA Octy. Still stock as standard from a lady owner.

I was somewhat surprise to know that you bought your blue vision via mail order when there is a local distributor in Singapore.

anyway i am using Crystal Vision for my Fogs.

BTW, there will be a meet up tomorrow at Kallang. wanna come?

The blue vision side lights do look a light blue and the headlights are very white and much better than the standard head light bulbs.

Personally, and I have been using them for over a month now, they are an improvement over the standard and look good.

But......I feel performance wise I should have gone for the Vision Plus.

After some Silver Vision indicator bubls now. Really expensive at

Silver Vision is only about S$25 in Singapore. it works out to be about

Which is what I said Adrian.

So far the pecking order for me is:

Phillips Rallye 130/100s

Phillips Vision Plus

PIAA Superwhite 90/110

Phillips Blue Vision

Standard

In fogs (H3) I like:

Phillips Rallye 100

Phillips Vision Plus

Osram Silver Vision

Bosch All Weather (not as glaring, actually useful in fog rather than as a cornering light)

Sidelights, got to be Phillips Blue Vision.

As you can see, if I ever get stopped for having a blown bulb, I do carry 1 or 2 spares :D

Edit to say, neither of the Rallye bulbs are E marked and are therefore illegal, but if I get stopped, dodgy bulbs is going to be the least of my worries! :D

....just adding my thoughts to yours...so to speak.

I got my Blue Vision just before you did your test so missed out on your "wisdom" before buying.

Oh well...nothing ventured, nothing gained.

Cheers.

Adrian.

Lovely to hear from all of you. Pity I was too busy to get on yesterday. Daniel, is the meet up today, the thirteenth? or was it yesterday? Also, is this a general meet up for owners of various cars or solely a SKODA Enthusiasts affair? It would be great if theres already a little club blossoming.

When did you get your 1.8T? Mines a 1.6A that I got from Czech Auto in March 2003. Keep thinking back that I should have got the RS, but erred more on the side of practicality and an auto then. May perhaps think about the Superb when it arrives though. Nevertheless, no regrets and I love my baby. So solid and so good.

Aren't you going to get yours chipped? Its really worth it.

Also, what about these Crystal Vision H3s? Are they really white and bright? Cost? Where can I obtain them.

As for the mail ordering, I got so frustrated with getting,"Their sold out", that I decided to order the bluevision. Ended up paying slightly more as a result.

Hope to hear from you soon.

hey no prob Dude.

The meet up was on Sat for the VAG cars. Lucky thing that you did not got, otherwise you would have felt left out. Most of them are Audi and VW. All nicely kitted and decked out in their full glory.

I was very sad, as mine was from a 2nd hand car dealer. They did a really bad paint job that i'd rather it not be done. No pride on my ride.

This Saturday would be for the Skoda people. I am trying to for a SG Skoda Club.

You can have a sample of my Crystal Vision when you see me, its white. But i must warn you, its not going to be as bright or reaches as far as the stock amber ones. If you are in need, do drop by my friend's place for the bulbs at Sin Ming Autocare 05-14. They have loads of it there.

As for chipping, i won't do it yet. Gotta get my handling done up first, then the bodykit and paint job. Finally brakes and wheels and power.

Lovely to hear from you guys. As for the meet, I wouldn't have felt left out, but rather the most pound smart in maximising my dollars and not going for the badge.

Anyways, guess I'll be a little too busy this Sat to make the meet but hopefully I'll be able to the next time. BTW, are the Crystal Visions from Phillips and are they whiter or Bluer than the Blue Vision. Brightness is not really a concern for the H3s as their merely there for the style along with the sidelights. What are the cost of the Crystal Visions?

Will you be doing your mods at Autovox? They are a little pricey though you can bet your car's in good hands. Good Service and Worth the extra dollar. Keep me updated on your mods.

hi bro,

sorry for not replying your sms the other day. I was in Malaysia when i received your msg. When i got out, i totally forgot about it already. BTW, the meet today is cancelled due to low response.

The crystals i believe is $70+

Mods likely would be done on my own, I don't think i would go to Autovox, its really costly.

SMS? Must have been one of your pals as I you haven't given me your number. As for the Crystals, which manufacturer are they from?

Tavia, I recently found out from our local Phillips manufacturer that Phillips actually has a Diamondvision Range that is actually whiter than the Bluvision though the least bright. More for the look. Have you come across these. Was looking to fit those if they looked as good as claimed as I';m not too concerned about the output of the H3s.

On another note, was curious as to why I haven't noticed any one on this website fitting bodykits to their Skodis? I'm so far aware of ABT and MSDESIGNS that supply them for the Octavia. I must say that the OCtavia doesn't need it as it looks fabulous as it is, though I have seen one with the front lip, sideskirts and rear lip attached and they do may the car look lower and sportier. May pose problems on high humps though.

Praveen
