2.0 PD engine

Featured Replies

Likely moving on from my bullet proof 1.9 PD Superb to an Octavia in the next few months.

My question is, does the 2.0 PD engine in the Octavia suffer from the same design problem the 2.0 PD engine does in the Superb with the oil pump?

If it doesn't suffer from the same problem is the 2.0 PD engine generally reliable. My 1.9 Superb has got 240K miles on it and has never missed a beat!

Thanks for your time.

No the octavia doesn't have the balance shaft drive for the oil pump so doesn't suffer that problem. I've found mine to be very reliable up to 145k miles, as with any engine regular servicing is key to longevity.

My work car is up to 201,000 and haven't had a problem with the oil pump so far.

Thanks for the replies.

Sounds like it's as good as the old 1.9 then?

Had no experience with DPF's. They are fitted to the 2.0 PD? Can they be troublesome?

Cheers.

No dpf apart from vrs and 4x4 models, mine done 160k with no issues. Only negative is fuel economy is not as good as the 1.9 pd.

As above mine is at 145k miles and no problems yet with DPF either.

2.0PD TDi 103kW BMM/BKD no problem 1,000,000km BKD after head replacement due first generation poor design

my DPF is most likely dead since it tries to regenerate for 400km for example. fuel consumption increased. Turbocharged cars are not designed for short trip !!!

I'm confused.

I didn't think the PD 2.0 diesel Octavia's had DPF's, apart from the 4x4, Scout and vRS (PD170).

Are you sure your car actually has a DPF?

Perhaps the engine configurations are different in Austria.

my hatchback has the warning light for the dpf filter but the work car doesent!

DPF's arrived on the 2.0 diesel when the CR engines were introduced in 2008/2009.

dont nearly all skodas come with a turbo now petrol and diesel   :wall:

Diesel cars are not designed for short trips.

it was poorly described. Any turbocharged car, which is in short trip city traffic.

Nothing kills turbo faster than idle, rev, idle, rev

DPF's arrived on the 2.0 diesel when the CR engines were introduced in 2008/2009.

BMM engine was first with DPF and it has been manufactured since 10/2005 at least in Central Europe.

UK don't bother about emission too much.

diesel turbochargers broke even earlier.

low revs, "economic" mode kills VNT turbo in no time. Sticky vanes as result.

of course as mentioned above by...city traffic - revs, idle at junction, revs and so on. Turbo suffers from thermal shock in no time.

Don't even bother arguing. Some folks know better than anyone else, and are superior in every way. No matter what other folk think, their opinions will be wrong.  :wall:  :wall:  :wall:
