Not been on in a while need price help

Featured Replies

Had some bad news about my mum and been trying to sort out her seeing as much of the kids as possible. Am thinking of selling the Octavia and moving to something smaller and newer. Looking for some advice on pricing mine.

It's an 06 1.9tdi 170k loads of work done as my history on here will show. Almost full service history and receipts for everything.

New Dmf and clutch 3k miles ago (sachs)

New turbo 18 months ago (genuine)

New egr last 3k miles ago (genuine)

New battery 3k ago year

New cam belt kit Inc waterpump (complete gates) 3k ago

Loads of other bits changed for peace of mind. Had 2 services in the time I've had it using decent stuff from Opie oils.

Have a few grand worth of receipts alone for the above and things like temp sensor, heater resistor, wipers and all the little annoying bits basically.

Loads of upgrades

Rns 510

Bluetooth

Maxidots with highline convenience module

Mfsw

Cruise control

Auto headlights

Tyre pressure monitoring

Xenon and leds inside and out

All 2015 badges and chrome door escutcheons / kick plates

AUDI Anthracite 17" alloys with Skoda centre caps

Jumbo box

4 keys (3 remote 1 x blade type)

Pop out type blinds for rear windows

Genuine roof bars

Boot release reversing camera (not wired yet, Mums news put things on hold)

Also have parts to go on like footwell lighting, all old parts from upgrades still here plus loads more.

Loads of other things I will have forgotten like glasses holder etc. I think the only module I didn't change was the central electrics.

Car has had everything it could need and more and has served me without incident. I am paranoid and change everything when I buy a car.

Sorry to hear about that. I did wonder whether you'd already sold your car as I'd not seen you on in a while.

I think you'd be better off stripping off the bits you can like the RNS and bluetooth kit etc and selling them separate.

At the end of the day, most people will see it as a 170k Estate, and not be willing to pay more for the extra bits.

Thanks soft scoop, mum has been battling cancer for a few years now. Things were going well but then they found a new tumor at the base of her skull an it's untreatable and unpredictable. It's left us having to make up the 300 miles between us anyway we can so she sees the kids. Not great but not entirely a surprise.

I know stripping the car is probably sensible but time is the problem right now with things as they are.

Yeah, as above, the extra's only make the car more desirable and therefore easier to sell, they won't necessarily add value.

Good luck, I hope things get better soon for you and the family.

Sorry to hear about your mum.

I would say around £2-£2.5k , best to look at similar mileage cars on auto trader and price accordingly as it should be snapped quite quickly by looking at the spec and with the turbo and dmf work alone is worth £2k of repairs the next owner doesn't need to worry about.

Likewise, sorry to hear about your mum.

If you decide to sell a few bits of seperately then I'd take the bluetooth (assuming it is the VW one) and the reversing camera, as they are both upgrades I had planned for mine (already added in the columbus to replace the bolero)

Thanks guys, I don't really want to strip anything out at the moment as its all in use until the car goes. Though I actually think after the last 2 months I could drive to Cornwall blindfolded let alone without nav. Even if I did selling it is only easy if you give it away.

Did you keep the original bits you took off like the standard dashpod and radio etc?

If you did, you wouldn't need to recode anything, it would simply plug back in as it would still be coded to your car.

Yeah still have everything, just don't fancy removing it all as I was a bit ott with routing wiring etc. I am trying to work out what everything cost me but hard as it was a while ago.

The dash pod and radio should be a 10 minute job to swap back over with no wiring changes?

Have you got any pictures? Sounds interesting

Not right now but could take some. I think 2500 would be my lowest I'd consider really as it stands. I've spent more than that on parts :)

What are the blinds you have fitted? I might be interested in them if you were thinking of selling them separately

Ok, send me some pictures when you get a chance please. What spec level is it?

It was a low spec model when I bought it that was the problem, it's far from that now though :)

Ok looking forward to seeing some pictures, also MOT details etc

Sorry @OctaBen had yet another emergency trip to Cornwall, at this rate I won't need sat nav I'm pretty sure the car knows it's way there on it's own! If still interested will try and get some photos

My local dealer, who I trust, quoted £2k as the value of my old 56 reg estate "if in perfect condition, looking like new", so I'd hope for £2.5k for yours.

During the change to the replacement Octavia, we had a succession of smaller Skoda courtesy cars. I don't think I'd buy a Fabia for all sorts of reasons eg the radio sounded awful.

I quite liked the Rapid.

Thanks but I bought a new car on Saturday, good luck with the sale
