Repair, Break or Scrap?

Featured Replies

The insurance company has written off my beloved 2001 Skoda Fabia Classic, 1.4 petrol.

The damage is to front passenger wheel, suspension, wing and light. The body work isn't worth anything as its scraped and dinged everywhere (I live in the country lanes). The engine is in tip top condition with only 99k on the clock and a week old new waterpump. The three remaining MIM 17" alloys have almost new tyres.

The question is, what to do with it? If I let the insurance take it away, I get £100, I can keep it if I give them £56. Repairs to get it road worthy will probably be £200 if I do the work myself. Is it worth keeping? Is it worth Breaking? or cut my losses and just stick with my work van?

Maybe someone here want the car to break/repair?

Any advice/thoughts would be appreciated

Cheers

Probably not enough there to break, its a lot of effort and not much money on bog standard 1.4 parts.

Try and argue to get a little more off them for it and then repair it yourself? I'm guessing £100 is after your excess?

But bear in mind what ever you spend to repair it, is probably all its worth at the end of it all.
