Agreed - sensational. I was there at the time watching at signpost corner. :)

Great vid, lovely driving roads, brings back memories of three visits there in the 80s for the Manx International Rally to see Pond,Clark and co ,and helped me remember a brown trouser moment I had passing a gaggle of RS2000 Escorts and a HS Chevette on the downhill section past Kates cottage to the tight right hander at the pub tyre squeeling four wheel drift (Ford Capri 3000gxl) with the back end hanging out on the exit trying to act like I ment to do it to my passenger ,then going back to the pub for a steadying drink .

unbelieveible speeds' date='up to 150mph!!!! in a standard 827

Have got a original copy of this on video, sigend by tony pond. When it first was made Duke marketing had a batch signed, as they operate out of the Isle of Man.

Once met Tony Pond at Blackpool Airport at about 7 on a Sunday maorning wiating for a flight back to the IoM ...

"Hang on" said I " I thought you were on the Scottish Rally ..?"

" We retired" says Pond " ... electrical failure on the Metro ... "

" oh ? "

" Yes .... a piston came out of the block and knocked the alternator off .............. "

still makes me smile .. :)

Those Rovers were very fast in their day -It probably weighs a lot less than an Octavia.

He only paid 41p/litre for his fuel too!

Quality! He kept the speed up amazingly well through those bends. He hardly ever dropped below fourth, even through those tight villages....
