tc light comes on

Featured Replies

hello!

I have an 2006 1,9tdi 4x4 octavia estate, and it is developing an nasty habbit.....TC ligt comes on in console and in dahsboard.

is there anything I can or should check before leaving it to workshop?

ABS is woeking propelly, but missing 4x4.4x4 is workin as long light stays off. when light comes on I can feel a distinkt "hack" in transmission ( gear shifter). It been serviced as schedule says by Skoda dealer.

funny thing is that when there is warm outside (+20c) light comes on efter an 1km drive, and when its cold like yesterday (-30c) i could drive allmost 200km before light comes on.

what might cause this problem?

cheers

If you can be sure that when the Traction Control (ESC) light is on the Haldex system (4x4) is not working then I'd imagine this will need a proper look at by a garage.

As with most modern and complex cars the best form of diagnosis is to read the fault codes. Since the ESC light has been on a few times there will almost certainly be a fault code logged.

Try to find a garage that will read the code for you for free, then use this site to see what the code represents...

I'm sure there are a few VCDS owners in Sweden, hopefully there is one near you who will be able to read the codes for you, see here...

I'd say the 4x4 isn't working as that relies on the same data as the traction control system

It could simply be a faulty sensor. Until you've had it scanned you won't know for sure.
