CAN bus connections

Featured Replies

I am trying to fit a telematics device to a Mk 3 Fabia. The device will listen on the CAN bus for speed, rpm and other signals. I know that the OBD connector has connection to the diagnostic part of the CAN bus but looking at the messages on this bus there is only one message being transmitted at 2 messages per second.

There must be other more useful CAN bus connections around - does anyone know where they are?? A wiring diagram would be so useful if anyone can point me to one.

Thanks

Fabia MK3 only has a basic Canbus, since it it really a MK1/2 Fabia underneath the skin.

The mk3 has five databuses. The CAN in the OBD connector is only for diagnostic purposes. You have to connect to the drivetrain-CAN at the BCM (or airbag, PDC, power steering ECU).

Thanks - that's what I'd hoped. Does anyone have a wiring diagram so I know which wires I'm looking for?
