Car playing funny buggers

Featured Replies

Until I asked a question about the forge BOV I didn't have a problem until the other day I was driving along and had abit of a misfire and and EML come on for about 5-10 seconds and then went back to normal, then didn't happen for 4/5 days and just happend again, could with be related to the BOV?

Many thanks in advance!

Moved to fabia 2 forum as the technical guides is just for posting that - technical guides. :)

Yeah Asgard as I no there all sound I just don't understand it seems to misfire and then be fine how would I know about right spacing on spark plugs

Well what plugs are in,

how many miles for and are they gapped, 0.8mm, the new VW 0.7 or as some have 0.6mm

The point is one plug gets oil fouled and coked up and the tip melts.

................

Is it coming on when you boot it between 2,400 - 3,500 rpm, then that is under load and you are on Supercharger & Turbo

and at the greatest risk of a Miss-fire due to a big gap on 1 spark plug.

Take care, dont do it until you check all the Spark Plugs.

You can go onto Limp Mode, the Turbo is Disabled until the Code is reset.

Worse it can shut down 2 cylinders.

But you got the early warning.

Probably no Fault Codes recorded because not enough misfires in in cycle.

I got the ngk spark plugs they wasn't cheap when I get chance I will let you know but only changed them about 2 month ago and yeah kicks in about 2300rpm

?

How much were they, and which plugs?

Worth paying £44 for 4 DENSO plugs rather than holing a piston and spending £3,500.

Just done a 20 mile journey and the EML light come on but this time also the epc light pulled over turn car off and on and reset it self

Also the plugs I got are ngk iridium bkr8eix

Any info is great

Just ASAP remove all 4 plugs,

inspect carefully, keep them in order.   Be careful when you remove & replace the pipework with the seals.

Be careful putting plugs back in, new ones if required.

Hose a length of pipe to fit over the plug and to lower in and start off the thread.

How many miles has your car done in total?

Ok well I got to get from Bristol to Newport only half our away and 18200 miles in total I will take it to skoda in the morning

Just dont boot it till you get it checked.

Light throttle and you dont need Super and turbo boosting from 2.200 to 3,500.

And you can cruise at 70 mph at around 2,500 and its on turbo with only supercharger on demand.

You should have no issues driving if you dont kick down, or drop a couple of gears in manual.

Just got home done about 75/80 and No probl apart from tyre pressure warning which I reset so will take it to skoda in the morning and get them to have a look

Cheers for the advice

What are skoda like on warranty as on I got forge induction and 3"cat back?

The Warranty will be replacement of the Spark Plugs if they were bought and Fitted at a Skoda Workshop.

I always thought they were consumables, but others here were told they had 2 year warranty as OEM parts.

As to Forge Induction, you never mentioned that before.

Are you sure there is no leak.

Maybe the Technician will ignore that.

3" cat back, should make no difference, but you never mentioned.

& with a Forge BOV on.

?

Can you not get a Independent Mechanic to check and change your spark plugs,

stay away from Skoda and Warranty with a Forge BOV fitted.

Ok well I will just give it to them I really cannot be bothered messing around with taking things off just to save the warranty if I have to pay then so be it the main thing is that it will be sorted if you get my drift

And no pretty sure there's no leaks I tightend everything I will double check everything tomorrow morning

Any update on how you got on?

Yeah had a diagnostic and there's a misfire in cylinder 1 so gunna get the gap checked and coils checked and go from there

  • Author

That's what it picked up

No picture showing in the post.

Well not for me anyway.

  • 3 weeks later...

What was the story in the end with the Misfire on Cylinder 1, is all OK now?

Was it the Spark Plug or something else?

  • Author

The coil wasn't on the plug correctly and the plugs wasn't gapped correctly either all sorted now
