Ill be wanting a maxidot display when i get my columbus.

 

So it got me thinking,can a FL cluster be fitted to a PreFL 2008.

I have done several mk6 / scirocco white clocks in older VWs with the blue illumination

 

You need an adaptor loom and new key transponders

Ok brilliant,,Will that mean the needle sweep? Could i have the blue dials?

Also does it need to be a specific set of clocks or just any FL set? I suppose if i want blue needles id need them from a scirocco?

Only a instrument cluster from a MK2 Octavia will fit, a cluster from other Skoda's or VW's will not physically fit even they are electrically compatible. I would also suggest you get one for the right fuel type to preserve the redline on the dials.

 

If you want blue needles, you'll need to take the cluster apart and replace the LED's responsible for illuminating the needles. Tricky but doable...

 

As for staging (needle sweep), I believe most FL maxidot cluster should support it although I'm sure I've seen a couple of reports where it hasn't, possibly down to firmware version?

What i meant was for the maxidot part,extracting the maxidot from another set of clocks,but if the whole unit can be changed then happy days. save alot of messing around.
