Ignition Coils

Featured Replies

I'm just wondering if changing the ignition coils on my vRS would be worth doing at all? They seem fine at the moment, but i wasn't sure if they were an item that deteriorated or either simply one day worked and then the next day don't and fail. Looking on opieoils website they don't seem particularly expensive: http://www.opieoils.co.uk/c-2703-lookup-results.aspx?vehicleid=12489&variantlist=126884:191552~191553~191554&yearFilter=2011#Filter=[sort=5*ava=0]&    but obviously if there's no benefit i won't bother. It's a shame there arent any upgraded ignition coils for these engines APART from the okoda plasma ones which are £700-£800 or something ridiculous like that!

Thanks for your help and information :)

Sure I've seen that the Audi R8 red tops can be fitted as an upgrade but can't be certain. And I'm not convinced they're any different other than the colour.

you will need some sort of adapter as the r8 coils are 9mm longer

cant find it now . will post later again

Thank you. I actually meant just replacing them for standard ones, because I didn't know if it was an item that got less effective/efficient with age or if they just go one day and whether it would keep things sweet to replace them once in a while. Obviously change spark plugs regularly, I just didn't know if ignition coils were something that needed changing much.

was just reading here and there that the r8 coils have a 60% stronger spark then the oem ones , not as strong as the okadas but still
