Flexi fuel pipe.

Featured Replies

Question for the experts in bits and bobs. Approx 3-4 years ago , the flexi fuel pipe on the return from the pump to the steelwork to the filter developed a leak. Dealer had a cure, at £160 for pipework, and £160 for labour. SIL turned up with an old of "get you home" flexi from a Bike, which lasted a few weeks. I'd managed to get a similar length from a car place ( cost me £0.50- big difference from dealer) and another leak, which was fixed by breakdown service. I now notice cracks in the walls of the pipe replaced last time. OK- it might not last forever, but original piece lasted eight years. TPS don't have any Skoda specific pipe, so is there any other pipe around( approx 8mm internal ) that has a decent name, and might last a few more years?

Can you not try the Braided fuel hose stuff?

ive replaced my pipes with it, cheap enough i suppose and looks nice.

im sure theres loads of others you can use though.

Stuff that's on is from a large motor factor, and is the same as suggested by TPS, and identical to that on e bay ,but a lot cheaper. Problem is that the replacement piece is splitting on the bends, so possibly it don't like the heat .

Looks like it's back to changing the section for another bit, and keeping an eye on it. Shouldn't complain though, as the car is 11 year old and this will be third change. Little chance of getting any other pipe as there's two chpices- Stealer of this motor factor, and stealer is not interested/don't stock the small piece(why shpuld they, when they can con someone into £320 ). Can't consider Halfrauds a choice.

I have the original if you want a genuine OEM one. Removed them when I fitted my braided ones.

That's why first time round I tried TPS , and why I used breakdown to replace the second time, as I felt I'd not got rid of the bend. It's not the filter end, it's the end nearest the pump , on the return to filter. The pipe I buy is from a good motor factor , who sells it to local trade etc . i have also tried a proper hose maker ,to find they doubted if their pipe would bend like the original. Still I now keep a bit of new pipe in the car, and one xmas pressie was AA breakdown.

pop a picture up of the pipe in question just to clarifty it and see what we can do

Funny thing is that first I had this problem, I posted a photo .But now I cna't even find my other post on the topic. Will have to try and get one of pipe. on the 1.4, the fuel filter is on offside, with two steel pipes to & from the pump, connected by flexi pipes. From memory, the inner is feed, and outer is return to the filter. it's the return that shows signs of splitting.
