Current Speed Missing from MFD

Featured Replies

Hi everyone,

This is my first post, so will try to keep it brief.

I have a Skoda Fabia Vrs, 12 plate.

I had a leaking radiator about a month ago, took it to my local Skoda garage, they repaired it but also told me that my dashboard was faulty and needs replacing. I knew something may be up because there was a very faint amber warning light constantly on. They quoted me about £800+ for the dashboard, then came back and told me that cause I was a loyal customer blah blah they can do it and the radiator, fully fitted for about £450.

The problem since they replaced the dashboard, my Current Speed is no longer displayed on the MFD. I cannot select it when cycling through the options and it is missing in the settings list. Having gotten used to driving with the speed displayed right in front of my eyes, to not have it is really annoying and disrupting my driving experience. Of course I have the speedometer, but it is not the same as having a large digital display, showing your speed.

The funny thing is, when I took it back to Skoda for them to show me how to get it back up, no one seemed to know what I was talking about, and I was made to feel like I was making it up. I had to google it to get a picture up on my phone to show them what I mean (see below) so now I have to book it into the garage and they are going to investigate it and contact technical if they cant figure it out.

I am posting today because I cant understand how this has happened, does anyone know anything about skoda dashboards? Is there a difference depending on the vehichle model, could it be that perhaps they installed the wrong one when they replaced it, and if so, what should I do?

Any advice or help would be greatly appreciated, as you can imagine this is a kind of annoying situation to be in.

Regards

Chris

Welcome Chris

12 plate Fabia’s (in fact ALL 12 plate Skoda’s) did not come with the large MPH display, they were recoded to display it by someone with VCDS, I do not know of any dealer that has done this, find yourself someone local with VCDS and get them to code the dash for you.

It needs the country changing to AUS

This is a mk2 fabia though, in the mk3 section. :D

When I had the dash removed on mine to have cruise control retro fitted, don't ask why the dash came out I have no idea what they where doing, I lost all my tweaks. I think it's something to do with the BCM being messed about with too but not sure.

As above though the country needs changing back to AUS. you may notice you now get a small speed showing in Kph?
