The new saxo

Featured Replies

Well I thought it would be the C2 that I would see transporting millions of 18 year olds around.Seems to me though, the old one still gets the vote of the 'yoof':D

Am I wrong? No one seems to have matched whatever magic formula the saxo had,not even citroen themselves.

Tis true, i enjoyed my saxo, but the old recipe is long gone. I think the last of the proper hatches can be found in your local Suzuki dealer. The Ignis sport, light weight, basic, 1.5 100hp engine. The only reason they are still around it becuase they are so backward.

Shame really.

I think the free insurance on the faster models also helped shift them :D Not sure what it did for everyone else's premiums in the process though!

What you want is my missus' old Micra. F-Reg, 1 litre engine, 100mph was off the speedo but I still managed to achieve it (going downhill on the M4, natch). An absolute joy to drive (if a bit heavy, the steering wheel was the size of a bus's) and a perfect car for us to learn our way around the art of driving in.

I never prompted him - honest

P.S how much did we say again

lol, i had a 106 and it was a fun car to drive. could be a bit fun on wet roads mind :o

I've owned a C2 GT (number 00534) and it handled better than my old saxo VTR, it was faster, and better equipped... unfortunatly the g/box broke at 40,000 miles, and citroen wouldn't replace it under warrenty (Insisted on rebuilding it) so I got rid, and came to the Skoda fold, never looked back.. but the C2 was a step forward from the saxo in every way, but keeping the same vane, so I would say it is the new saxo... (Still french, and hence breaks though!)

Wait untill the Suzuki Swift GTI comes out next year.

^^^^ That thing is damn near as ugly as a BMW 1 series! ^^^

Actually upclose and personal the Swift ain't so bad looking'...saw a silver one outside my office the other day, doesn't look half bad at all actually....though it seems they kind of riipped off the Mini's roof though.

i had a 106 gti.

i lowered it and beefed up the roll bars etc. it was an awesome handling car.

i wish i'd never sold it!!!!!
