I had the window mechanism changed on my fabia 2001. It did not include the carrier . However since the replacement window mechanism the window would intermittently jam . When the door panel was taken off it showed a missing bolt on the carrier . I replaced this bolt and it now works . I am not very happy with the garage , Can anybody tell me what this bolt does. Please see attached photo of carrier with missing bolt.

It looks like it holds window mechanism to plate. Genuine replacement coming as a complete unit. No need to remove any bolts. How they could miss it?

Garage is denying it saying it would not have worked first time if the bolt was missing .the window mechanism was replaced by cutting the carrier plate.I think the missing bolt keeps the mechanism aligned .There is also a similar bolt on top right of carrier.

What do you mean they cut the carrier?

 

The window mechanism is pop riveted to the door carrier not bolted. Pop rivets are part number N90765701

That is totally unnecessary butchery. I wouldn't trust them to mend a push bike.

It's a missing pop rivet.

That is some serious fecking idiocy, don't ever use them again and put it down to experience.
