Revo remap ??? help please

Featured Replies

Hi, Im a new boy here and was looking for a bit of good advice. Ive just ordered my PD160 air intake and i'm planning a remap. My intended route is the Revo, but im wondering if any of you out there have experience of a revo map on your car and good give me your views, whether good or bad.

Ive searched the forums but cant find any specific revo advice, so I apologise if this has been discussed already

Thanks

By all accounts its an excellent remap. But I think all the top players are producing quality maps these days.

Have you considered an AmD One-Click (user switchable, back to standard, as often as required).

Details in the Group Buys forum (hurry, hurry, deal closes in a week!).

Big grin factor whatever option you eventually go for.

John.

I have heard that there are some people who had Revo and really liked it, however they've upgraded to Custom Code and like it a lot better :)

Get on the AMD group buy - 350 quid for an excellent remap that you can take off your car and replace it at will. This is excellent for when the car is in for servicing or warranty issues as you can just upload the factory ecu map - 5 min job.

Get your name down, lol

P.S. Whatever route you choose there are pros and cons, i've looked at all the options, and for me the AMD 1 click seems the most suitable for a new car with warranty.

Its important to add that whatever remap you chose, be it swithable or not, if the dealer, insurance assesor etc want to see if its been mapped, they WILL be able to tell.

IIRC, the Revo is quite an agressive map, but it has been the choice of many. And I can confirm that after being driven around Brunters in a Revo'd fab, its bloody brilliant.

TBH though, unless you really want something unique (i.e really smooth, or all the power at high revs etc), I don't think there is a huge amount of difference between each of the big tuners.

Ive had revo for almost 2 years now... and i think its great.

as mentioned above.. all the maps are pretty much equal.. the rest depends on your personal prefrance regarding functionality like switchability, and location.

One thing extra to consider......

Aggressive remaps (180, 190, 200 bhp) do put a strain on certain componants more than others and could cause, for example 'clutch slippage'.

That's one of the reasons I'm going for AMD. Its only claiming a 30 bhp increase, so bearing in mind, I'm probably pumping out anything up to 140 bhp at the moment with my green filter/PD160 intake, a final remapped figure of 170 bhp (ish) appeals to me.

I don't particularly want to fork out several hundred quid on a clutch and front brakes upgrade. (Its Xmas, I'm skint!).

Cherrs,

This is indeed an important point.

But tbh, I would expect the One-Click to perform any less than other leading tuners' products tbh. ;)

I would hazard a guess and say the One-click is not giving that same output as other tuners because it is a generic remap.

If this is the case AMD reduce the max bhp & tq to suit all vehicles.

As the BHP & TQ approached the upper limits, the ratios become very reliant on that particular engine, and hense need a rolling road to set up the fuelling correctly.

It might be worth asking AMD, (if this is the generic map) if they still do the offer where for £100 the owner may come back at a later time and upgrade the remap to a custom remap and rolling road session.
