Scout Rear Springs

Featured Replies

Had the broken rear springs on my 140pd scout replaced last year. Would have gone OEM but we were on holiday the next day,so my mechanic fitted some from a local motor factors. The rear of the car seems to be lower since fitting and when I was towing last year the suspension was bottoming out more than I remember.

Just wondering if I should replace with originals or get some uprated springs. Any advice would be most welcome

Thanks Mark

Hi Mark,

It looks like your local garage screwed up.

The Scout gets different springs compared with the standard 2WD Octavia estate.

I used the Eurocarparts website and put in the reg number for my PD140 Scout, then opened another tab and put in a random reg number from a standard 2.0 diesel 2WD estate I found on Autotrader from the same year.

They had different part numbers for the rear springs, from both offered manufacturers, Sachs and Anschler.

Time to get some proper ones put on!

You can by some even firmer springs too if you tow a lot, see this thread...

MAD Springs have had good reviews on here...

Thanks silver, all the research I've done with aftermarket companies for standard springs gives the same part as a 2wd model so I can see why it's happened.

Cheers, Mark

When I looked at the front suspension for my 4x4 only skoda/tps had the parts, ECP and gsf eventually decided they didn't have suitable springs or shocks. I fitted a new droplink and ball joint from ecp though.

The key wording you need to look for for 4x4 and Scout is "With rough road package" as this gives the stronger springs with raised ride height.

Result. Standard springs from the dealer £140 with discount, fitted for £30. New springs were an inch bigger than the old ones and the rear of the car is riding 2-3 inches higher.

For reference the part no for the std rear springs is 1K0511115CS

...and additional to this: "with towbar "
