Octavia ii stereo

Featured Replies

Hi all

I've had an Octavia ii 56 plate 2.0 PD for about 4 months now. It's in pretty good nick and it's great to drive compared to the 53 plate 2.0 DTI Astra I had before.

However - the stereo is rubbish. The Astra stereo was much better. After reading a few threads I seem to have an Audience stereo with aux socket. It's lacking in bass and when I turn it up it sounds horrendous, really tinny and nasty. I listen to a broad range of music styles.

What can I do to improve the sound?

Thanks

Sorry I've posted this three times by accident! Can a mod delete two of them please? Apologies....

I have the stream mp3 in my vrs and i am very happy with the sound, i am not sure what speakers come in the vrs but they sound brilliant with m.o.s i love garage pumping

There's a Bolero going for £100 in the classifieds. Sound is fine in my Scout (although I think I have a blown speaker) and it looks so much better than the Stream that it replaced. Has an integral 6 CD changer as well, if you have any of those still!

I'd first change the tweeters for some better aftermarket items, with passive crossovers. The factory units have far too much midrange directed to them. That makes a huge influence on the sound.

If you're still not happy, go for an aftermarket HU. Though the Octavia has a much better standard stereo than a lot of other cars of that ilk.
