Separating the Octavia vRS front grille - help!

Featured Replies

i've bough myself a front grille, and i am trying in vain to sparate it all, there must be 30 clips hold it all together.anyone got any advice on this?before i loose my wrag or a finger.not as simple as i first thought.

1. Remove grill from car using standard hex bit x8

2. Place your shiny grill on a work bench and re-consider what you are about to do... a cup of tea helps here.

3. Drill out 6 no. rivets as shown

4. Using a flathead screw driver, some firm pressure and love.... push out the silver coloured tabs which remove the entire chrome part of the grill

5. Here's the grill in two parts

6. Here's the badge off

I didn't drill out any rivets to seperate mine, it all just unclipped.

cheers for the replies guys, sheer stuborness won the day, just pushed the bu44er out.weird how it feels really robust when to gether, yet quite flimsy when apart.badge was a sod to get out, filler now purchased, wet and dry,and some yellow filler primer.

going to fill where the badge was and smooth it over, not sure on whether to paint it yellow or black.time to have a bash with photo shop i think ;)

cheers.

i've had a search ,yet can't find a pic of an octy grille in yellow,i know someone posted a pic a while back.any help please guys:thumbup:

and also you opinions on an idea, paint the vrs grille black (on a yellow vrs)and use a black backgrounded skoda badge on it darkening the grille, and badge,i'm in two minds basically,de-chrome it with black and a black badge,or de-badge completely, smooth it and paint yellow,i'm just not sure how a completely yellow centre of the grille will look.

i have two grilles ,so could probably try both, but this could end up being more expensive than buying a milotec grille and painting that
