Graunching noise from drivers window.

Recommended Posts

Put the window down today and it was very noisy and making graunching noises. Sounds like something has broken.

Would let me put the window up to a point then wanted to go down again. With a little perseverance it went back up so it's watertight but as this site has many, many "oracles" I'm pretty sure someone already knows what the issue is.

Any ideas? I'm assuming it is something plastic but I as I said I am assuming and you know what they say about that don't you!!

Thanks in advance for any suggestions.

Shame this wasn't at the weekend as could have brought a regulator up the m5.

Eventually graunching will stop. When it breaks and glass falls down. :D

Have one I can post. Will do you a special deal as you let me have those alloys. ;)

Yes regulator is about to snap. I replaced many of these over the years, but then i found someone on ebay selling the whole mechanism slider and all for a couple of quid more than the repair kit..... new but obviously not genuine.

Did a couple of jobs today with the window regulator being one of them.

Found this when I took it apart.

So it looks like the PO has had a problem in the past and rectified it in his/her own way.

Anyway it works so I decided to leave it and just tape it back up.

Also managed to fix the door handle "pull" as I found that the wire hadn't been pushed into the holder correctly.
