Advice please...

Featured Replies

Good Morning, All.

I’m looking for some product advice.

I have a well maintained metallic red car, do about 5000 miles per year and do a complete detox once every spring.

I’m  knockin` on a bit now so am looking for `ease `.

So, once I have the paintwork stripped of all previous protection, can someone please recommend a polish that I can apply with a DA followed by an `easy on easy off` sealant followed by an `easy on easy off` wax? (I understand that the polish, sealant and wax all have to work well together which is why I need advice).

Many thanks

Mike.

Hey Mike.

As you know, there are hundreds of combinations that will suit your needs. As long as you keep the layers thin, you will be okay. But here would be my reccomendation.

Polish - Prima Amigo (This is an All in one; Polish and Glaze.) http://www.saverschoiceuk.com/prima-amigo-pre-wax-cleanser-gloss-enhancer-16oz.html

Sealant - Prima HydroMax (Designed to work with Prima Amigo, spray on, wipe around until it disappears) http://www.saverschoiceuk.com/prima-hydro-max-spray-polymer-sealant-16oz.html

The above would completely suffice; it will look great on your red car and also offers great durability. They are fabulous products. You can then wax over this of you like. Easiest was I have ever used is Chemical Guys 50/50 pastewax. You can apply this in full sun, on a dark coloured car and it will still be an absolute breeze to remove. You can do a whole car at a time to and leave for 20 minutes before removal. Durability isn't amazing though at 2-3 months max, but you will havve the base of the Prima Hydromax.

I would add, it's all subjective. Maybe worth a look at KKD Purity X as a sealant, but I've never used it so cannot comment. But all the KKD range gets amazing reviews, like their Regloss polish and Si-Coat sealant, which is very similar to my recomendations. http://detailinghut.co.uk/collections/vendors?q=KKD

Thank you so much, `Hunty` for taking the time to reply. I will certainly research your suggestions and I'm sure like what I read.

Best regards

Mike.

Don't discount the Sonax Extreme Brilliant Shine Detailer (AKA BSD) spray for a post wash top-up of your protection. As the name suggests it is indeed brilliant!

It's a great way to add protection and it is cheap as chips! Prima HydroMax is very similar, but is more durable as it purely a sealant, is similar in application but less liable to streaking, similar water behaviour (which is exceptional for both) and for me a better finish. But it is twice the price. Pound for pound, BSD is great!
