low level oil light

On my Octavia mk1 vrs the low level oil light came on,checked level and was nearly on the bottom mark,so topped it up to about 3/4 the way up, and still got the light on???

Yes its just the yellow one.

Hi the mystery deepens put new sensor on so is the orange light. Turn key on ,red oil light on red oil light off orange light on and stops on .even with engine stopped

But he's replaced the sensor. If there was poor flow due to a blocked pickup wouldn't it be the red light that was on?

 

OP - have you got the correct dipstick? If you had a longer dipstick (oohh matron!) than standard then the full level on the dipstick would be lower in the sump. Also check that the dipstick tube isn't broken - it's common for them to go brittle.

Thank you for your input,got new dipstick and dipstick tube which have been fitted for quite a while now. Spoke too the local dealer they think it might be a wiring problem/short somewhere???
