Hi all I just brought some cheap s3 wheels . So I need to get 4 tyres. I'm guessing I need 205 40 17 .. Can anyone recommend a good mid price tyre ??

Hankook V12 EVO2 are nice if a little soft in the sidewall, if you can get a good price then good year f1s are excellent.

Can run 205/45s if you want a little more comfort. Check the right rear wheel first to be sure it'll clear the bump in the wheel arch liner.

The S3 is a much wider wheel than the standard 16" or 17" options from Skoda. So 205/40/R17 looks a bit undertyred. I'd go with 215/40/R17. That is what we all ran back in the day when S3's were the thing.

Won't the speedo reading be quite far out? A 205/45/R16 to 205/45/R17 is almost 5% different.

So 215 40 17 . Clear everything ok ??

It'll be almost accurate but still slightly underread (like 1-2%) . Little bro runs these on his Ibiza FR.
