Oil pressure warning!

Featured Replies

Hello all.

Bit of a problem with my skoda superb 1.6tdi. While driving under nominal load the oil pressure light flashed 3-4 time with the chimes. Car still drove ok after. Checked oil level it's fine. Recently had timing belt changed. Car has done 171k miles. Well serviced etc. it's a 2012. Could it be oil pump? Chocked engine oil pipe? Sensor? The light is not on now like I said it only chimed 3 times. But worried now, it's like a warning before something fails. The cars a taxi so I have two options either get it tidied up a bit then hand it back to finance company then get a new one. Or get oil pump etc replaced looking at about £350 for that. The clutch is original so will also need replaced at some point, it's making some noises.

Similar thread with a Fabia II with the same engine / oil pressure problem:-

Might not be oil pump and you might start chucking more and more money at it. Will also cause disruption to your business whilst out of action.

Get someone to properly check the oil pressure

Try oil pressure lead and connection to the pressure switch first and if they are OK try replacing the pressure switch as they are the least expensive to try first.

Hi big John, I have just read your post and was wondering if you have sorted the issue as I am currently having the same problem. Ben

1 reason a oil pressure gauge is a blessing

I have had a diagnostic test conducted unfortunately there was no fault stored.

With a generic code reader or a proper tool like VAS or VCDS
