EGR cooler

Does anybody no how to remove the EGR cooler from the back of the engine thanks

With great difficulty. You need to at least undo the exhaust from the turbo. To get the exhaust off you to drop the suspension and disconnect the drivers side driveshaft IIRC.

Thanks am asking cos a need to remove turbo but can't get to the 4 top turbo manifold nuts that's why am asking how to remove the EGR cooler this job seems to be getting harder and harder

I have a feeling the turbo won't come out the top, it has to go down. So you need the exhaust out of the way.

You dont have to do any of that

To replace the EGR cooler you disconnect the exhaust at the front sleeve and remove the 2x 13mm bolts holding front pipe to subframe. You dont take it off.

You loosen the DPF (1x13mm bolt from the top and 2x 13mm bolts from the bottom + loosen the 2x 13mm nuts on the bracket. Then the 5mm allen key on the dpf clamp). Then pry bar the dpf so it twists but doesnt come off.

Then you remove the turbo oil return pipe + always replace the top gasket onto turbo.

Then remove both EGR pipes going onto the cooler.

Last remove the EGR coolant pipes (will make a mess) i clamp them 1st.

Then there are 4x Torx 30 bolts holding the cooler to the engine. 1 of them (top right) is tricky to get to. I use a wobbly bit holder wratchet with a t30 bit in it as there isnt enough space for a 1/4 drive wratchet.

There is a vacuum pipe + a connector to take off aswell (depending if its an old type cooler or new type)

If you arent restricted by time then removing the Offside drive shaft gives you alot more room. But it can be done without.

Not really with it. Mine is a 4x4 so it's a bit more complicated.
