Alternator on 1.3 lxi mk2 mpi

Featured Replies

Hi I've got a basic 1.3 felicia. No PAS or air con etc. Is it necessary to take off the engine bay shroud to get at the auxiliary drive belt as Haynes says ? Also if anyone has a part number (s) for a suitable alternator I would be grateful. Some numpty fitted an underpowered one before. Probably caused it to burn out early.

Thx in advance

Since found out looking at the damn thing the belt only drives the water pump and alternator as per the older favorits Rapids etc. Not the convoluted rubbish in haynes.

Hi mate. It most likely only needs the regulator replacing which is easily unscrewed from the side of the alternator [2 screws] without needing to remove it.

iggy

Part number is 047903015J or 047903015P (Bosch)

Standard alternator is 14V/70A.

Hi Dave hope you and the family are well. Do you have the Bugrat still ? The history on the felicia is that the original regulator went about 3 years back and ruined the battery as they are prone to do. At night on the M6 I might add. Anyway someone else 'repaired' it and put in an underpowered alternator. A couple of weeks back the battery light wouldn't extinguish but no sign of the overcharging malarkey that indicates a broken regulator. Anyway I think it's best just to put in another whole alternator and this time the proper one. At least it's not as tricky as Haynes makes out on a basic felicia.

Still much impressed with the felicias. They just keep on going don't they ?

Ricardo . Thanks for that. Mine as putting out barely 12.5 volts across the battery terminals

Put a proper alternator and use the Haynes manual to even a chair or a table with a shorter leg. You'll be fine.

Tell us how it went after you'll finish the job.
