boost log

Featured Replies

Just plugged in and I have fault code p1548 boost pressure for n75 valve maybe cus I unplugged it?

Didn't read this, probably, possibly, plug in, clear and see if it returns. This may hint at the broader issue? Don't panic about it too much, Bill will sort you out. Never been there myself, spoke to him on the phone once and heard all good reports.

just got back from badger 5 , what a top bloke full of knowledge most of which went over my head!

smoke test revealed i had the catch can screw wrong way so open not shut, stupid backwards thread!! second slight leak from manifold pipe to intercooler tightened up all good no leaks from anywhere else miracle!!

no faults on vagcom excellent news too,

dyno showed that the car is tailing off like the map wants it too, made 196bhp was secretly hoping for just over 200bhp but hey my cars healthy with this map so im happy , total piece of mind now,    he said k03s do tail off as there not a beefy turbo.

spoke with him over my next mods which are cai and oversize tip , his opinion worth doing it cai better than standard panel filter , he is making a oversize tip with a alloy billet to make connecting to the turbo easier i will be waiting for that one i think as sounds like a crappy job to do.

Good stuff mate. I thought it could be ko3s tail off but it did look like more, probably attributed to that slight leak and fitting error. TIP is definitely a good upgrade, I think it depends what cai you get, did he recommend any?

To be fair depending on the map I don't think 196 is too far off what you ACTUALLY get from a stage 1 map, they all say 210 but it's not a magic wand they wave over the car there are loads of variables. From vcds I extrapolated 206 from mine but that was with a large side mount, a big old pipe to a panel filter and I'd had a terraclean. By the way that map claimed to rise to 220. Best to ignore the claims and just get a custom map to fit around what you've got, although I understand your map is already on there? Good to make contact with Bill.

no recommendations just said bmc filters and one other beginning with j i think!  ive got the pipe just need the filter and tip be next month now tho!

yeah already mapped. chatted with him about the deletes in engine bay. think i will give it a miss. hes not a fan also needing to get them mapped out most decent mappers wont touch a map unless its theres so that would mean full on remap costs!

I must admit I was never completely taken by the idea of the sai delete and using resistors. I only wanted to do the evap can because the ticking annoyed me. But yeah you're right it would be a reset followed by a new map rather than trying to sort out an existing one, that's what happened with mine. My new tuner reckoned the map that was on there was 'all over the place'. You can't make a silk purse out of a pigs ear, did he reckon the existing map looked ok?

yeah he said it was fine seemed surprised it never touched over 200bhp but showed me the details and commented thats its safely running within the turbo etc.  some of the bigger bhp stage one maps will be creating too much heat for too long too much stress.  i said im happy with the power yet found myself asking how much for stage 2!!!!

yeah the ticking is fecking annoying but has its place in the engine bay

Exactly, and if it's ticking it's working
