For those with black vinyl'd grille surrounds...

Featured Replies

... Did you have it wrapped or hydro dipped?

Over the past four years i've had a combination of black grilles - rattle canned (which chipped), professionally painted with 2k (which chipped), plastidipped (surprise surprise, which chipped) so i've decided to have it done in vinyl.

I've had a price back from a place for hydro dipping but it seems a bit steep for satin black. I'm going to contact some vinyl wrap companies tomorrow to see how their prices compare.

What should i be paying to have this done or can anyone recommend what type of vinyl i need to do it myself?

Hi, I vinyl wrapped mine myself summer last year. I got the wrap of ebay for next to nothing. it was abit tricky and took a quite abit of time to perfect. didn't have a heatgun just used a hairdryer and a lot of patience! the end result isn't too bad if I don't say so myself!

it still looks good now and on the plus side I can take it off and re-do it with the spare left from the roll.

Paid £30 for someone to do mine.

Has only got 1 chip in it so far and I've had it done for 2 years. I drive a lot of motorway miles too.

£30 sounds like what i was willing to pay, i was quoted £200 for two of them from a Hydro dipping place. I told him that was mental and he went down to £70 each but that's still extortion.
