Speedo reads high 30 mph = 60 mph on dial?

Featured Replies

Hi

I'm new to the forum but having a issue with my octavia: the speedo reads high but not at the beginning of a journey it seems not to come back to zero after it hits a certain point.

For example if i'm coming back from the country ( motorway is only a few miles away it is fine reads correctly till I get off the motorway (70 mile run) and then reads 60mph when I'm doing 30mph. When I come to a stop it reads 25 - 30 mph, but this settles back over night.

If I'm going to my destination it reads high once I get to motorway maybe 15 miles away from the house.

The needle can be a bit jerky returning to zero on the speedo when it does!

thanks

Do you have access to VCDS?

The speedo gets its speed based on the 4 ABS sensors, one on each wheel.

Using VCDS it's possible to look at the live value of each sensor to see what data the car is getting.

Hi

I had not heard of that looked it up online seem to use the same connection port, can I use an obII to usb connector and hook up to a PC if I download the vagcom software?

I thought that there was a speed sensor located on top of the gearbox?
