Featured Replies

Hey all,

Her indoors has issues with her octavia 1.4 tsi not starting today. It will crank over nice and fast but refuses to fire at all.

I tried it this evening and on the 4th attempt it started like nothing was wrong?

She ran it by a friends today who's partner told her his scan mentioned a fault of (I hope this is right she remembers all I do that's wrong)

01314 engine control module 004 no signal/communication intermittent.

Does anyone have any ideas of where to start with this?

Thanks

Found this if it helps any:

1314 - Engine Control Module: No Communications

Possible Causes
  • CAN-Databus Wiring/Connectors from/to Engine Control Module faulty
  • Fault(s) stored in Engine Control Module
  • Engine Control Module recently flashed or re-mapped
Possible Solutions
  • Check CAN-Databus Wiring/Connectors from/to Engine Control Module
  • Check Measuring Value Blocks (MVB)
    • Usually Measuring Value Blocks (MVB) 125+ show the current Communication Status
  • 3 months later...

Thought I better update this incase anyone else suffers the same problem. There was corrosion in the fusebox and on the relay terminals! They charged her a fair bit of money to fix it, as wasn't a warranty fix. The car has been fine since however.

Corrosion in the fusebox/relay terminals? In this day and age? Are VAG rewinding us slowly to the 1950s?
