MattyVRS64's Black Fabia VRS

Featured Replies

Had my Fabia VRS for about a year and a half. the car was completely standard when I got it, thought it was about time to start a thread!

I wanted to try and mod it slightly but on a very tight budget.

Changes to date include:

LED Sidelight bulbs.

Black vinyl wrapped front grille.

K & N Panel Filter.

Brake overhaul & re-painting of brake callipers.

"New" style skoda badges front and rear

LED Number Plate Bulbs

going to get some better more up to date pictures when I get the time and weather improves. the car now travels a lot of miles each day on a daily commute and future plans for now include:

  • Sensible Re-map (nothing too aggressive as running a standard setup doing a lot of motorway miles)
  • Seat FR front Splitter
  • Cambelt required soon.
  • oil & filter.
  • A Few Minor scratches on nearside front wing (looking to get this sorted in the near future, pics to follow)

That looks like a nice shine off the paint. Makes me realise how bad my finish is!

Any pictures of the LED sidelights?
Any other mods planned?

cheers! I will be getting some more pictures probably at the weekend, will take some with the sidelights.

originally got some Halfords ones but they weren't that great and blew within a couple of weeks! got some Phillips ones now and they look nice and stand out will get some pics.

have a few mods planned, the biggest one at the moment being trying to sort out an annoying scratch!

also got a CD multichanger to fit. although it seems to be fitted with one when I bought it, the cassette unit inside the housing has been removed which is slightly annoying. got a full unit on order though should be a straight forward job

managed to give it a quick clean this weekend, typical Yorkshire it rained before I had chance to polish!

I can relate to the weather mate. Its been raining daily here in Scotland virtually ever day for months!
Those LEDs look really bright. Do you have a link to the style of ones you bought at all?

That's great. I've always liked Philips bulbs in the past for headlights but never knew they done LEDs now. They look really bright!
I got the Osram ones instead but haven't fitted them yet. Will take some pictures to compare when i do.

Got my cd multichanger today. All I needed was the casette, looks like mine came with a cd multichanger fitted as standard.

For some weird reason the previous owner decided to take out the casette before selling.

Did you know you can buy the cassettes separately?

Tried looking to buy it separately, couldn't find it anywhere. Either way cost me next to nothing for a spare unit.

Ah well. Win win situation..

I found it after much searching - quite expensive really!

so having owned the car a while now, I decided to take the plunge and get it re-mapped. after a high recommendation from a friend I went with Faboka (hidden power) file transfer service.
after taking a few intial logs using VCDS it was diagnosed that the car was slightly over boosting (weird as the map is standard ASZ)

Re Map screen v1.0

finger crossing moment the files were transferred!

Re Map skoda Run v1.0

post map run the car is so much better, a lot more responsive and pulls a lot better. after a few minor tweaks to the map the results are really impressive.

Been a while since i last updated this,

no significant changes have really been made over the past year, the birth of our little one and the need for 5doors meant that the Mrs now uses it more then me!

i managed to get a good deal on a LCR front splitter last month and finally got round to fitting it after work the other day:

LCR Splitter.jpg

not the cleanest car at the moment but glad i did it, overall i see what people now mean when they say it improves the look of the whole front end. i will get some better pictures when the weather is better and ive had chance to clean it!

also im not 100% happy with how its sat, i want to resit the spoiler when i get chance.

tasks to do:

  • front headlights - beginning to get that horrid fade on them, need restoring
  • clean and machine polish
  • cam belt fast approaching
  • flush and change the antifreeze - coolant reservoir begining to look abit rusty in colour, need to have a closer inspection/pressure test.
  • cup holder - keeping my eyes peeled for a good price polo cup holder
  • arm rest - again not essential but due to the amount of motorway miles i now do this would be a good feature.

The rear badge was easy as anything, it's only held on with adhesive. Not sure exactly which one I went for but got the standard new style rear badge of eBay. Pretty sure it's the same size rear as the mk2 fabia, from memory it's only the front one that I had a slight issue with the sizing. If in doubt best to use some verniers or a ruller to measure the diameter to double check before you order it.

yeah im sure the front is 90mm and the rear is 80mm. just wasnt sure if it was a worth while job. im going to spray mine matt black to match my matt black grill

cheers mate
