Rear Door tweeters

Featured Replies

My rear door tweeters have never worked. Took the grills off today and found these nasty squashed tweeters.

Are these original or has someone replaced them? (can't seem to upload the photos right now will try later)

Where can I get some new (or used) ones from?

Thanks

Devonutopia may have some. He's a member on here.

I can't upload any photos. Anything currently wrong with the server? Tried jpg, gif, bmp etc all small sizes.

ah yes those ones. Mine are totally crushed. Not sure how that ever happened with a grill on top. Does look like someone has had them out.

Are the tweeters actually connected to anything, it was quiet common to disconnect them as the MK1 Octavia tends to sound better without them. The reason being when connected they blast right into your front passengers ears.

You can check because they are usually disconnected at the back of the car, look at the rear speaker on the sides in the boot and see if you have any disconnected wires. The tweeters are fed directly from the rear main speakers.

ah great I'll have a look at the rear speakers. The whole system does sound pretty flat/awful.

Is the skoda audio player just poor quality or do the speakers need updating?

Update: tweeters are all connected to the rear speaker terminals.

I upgraded my speakers but left the original tweeters in and the sound is better, but I have got a new head unit to fit too.

Managed to find some on ebay last night form the skoda breakers, Jim, in Scotland. 15 quid the pair.

May end up upgrading the front speakers too. Maybe with a pair of 2 way JVC or something along those lines.

I've bought loads from him. His stuff is always in good condition and delivered fast.

Are there any direct replacements for the originals to save faffing with removing the door card?

I managed to squeeze it out without removing the door card. Getting it back in might be a different story. Not the best thought out design as usual.

Good to know. He has a nice set of dark seats I'm after but but justify the expense at the moment (Ihave the beige ones and get horribly dirty). My exhaust needs seeing to first.
