Moved on from my beloved VRS

Featured Replies

Hi Mark,

I'm so sorry that you have had to let your creation go, I couldnt believe it!! :( . What car have you replaced it with??.

I'm sure you had a very good reason and did not take the decision lightly. Sounds like its gone to a good home tho.
Speaking personally, I can honestly say you have been an inspiration to me with mods etc and i'm sure many others on here feel the same way.

.

The vrs is still going strong just passed 70k miles. They are like tanks if looked after.

NB: Latest Vrs model(red) passed me last week with blues and twos going, so they cant be that bad if the boys in blue use them.

Take care my friend, I wish you good fortune and thank you once again for all your help over the years.

Peter

Hi Mark,

I had to read this twice to believe it, you have inspired me with my projects, and I can honestly say I have never had a bad answer from you, no matter how stupid the question was.

I will be sorry to see you leave here, would it be rude to ask what you are moving on to?.

So many of the old members and cars leaving now, it's starting to feel different all ready, but I suppose that is progress and life.

Good luck with your new venture.

Phil.

He will never leave us

no need to ask bout service history...its all here

thanks for all the guides Mark and good luck whoever drivin her now

Can't believe your moving on after all these years, the car is a credit to you and I'm sure you'll miss it but onwards and upwards :)

Thanks for your input and your guides over the years too.

What's the replacement then?

Will probably be leaving the skoda fold myself later In the year as I have plans for another car and as soon as it happens the octy will be gone.

Fair play Mark, suppose sometimes you just know when it's time for something new. Your guides will get plenty of use still, thanks for the advice by pm on occasion. I'm sure whatever you devote yourself to next there will be many others who benefit.

Don't fancy an Ibiza FR and doing some how tos by any chance?hehe Good luck son

Guys really appreciate the great responses. See this is why I am very fond of the Skoda forum. Never really had any issue or grievances with anybody . That's also why I put the effort into a group that I have kinda grown up learning with over the years. Like I say the time was just right. I did not sell coz I lost interest but better to sell when she is at her best tbh. Clive has taken over her and is looking after her well. I am not gona leave the forum as still love to support folks and help where I can. I have moved onto a 2007 bog std Ford Focus ST dare I say it, which is a stepping stone to get me to a AUDI RS6 or maybe RS4. Not in my price range just yet. The st is gona get my modding attention for a while. The VRS is far quicker and actually does a good job of spec and I do miss the climate control over the ST dials. Boy std is not nice. I will post the changes as I go even thought it is not a Skoda.

Thanks again guys.

I will be back

I feel like i knew something others didnt on this... after stumbling into the parts for sale section the ither day and feeling gutted :(

That she is still living on lifted my spirits Mark, and Clive - you better mind her!! Looking at what these cars can be makes me feel a little more proud of my (work related filthy) diesel burning 12yr old runt - shes old, bruised and getting arthritic but still the 90 3 legged donkeys under the bonnet have never let me down in any major way.. keeping up to speed with how The REAL mk1s are able to take a well planned upgrade just makes me even happier :)

Enjoy the ST Mark, no doubt you'll it (him/her??) as fine an example of that breed as you did with the Octy :)

I went skoda less for ages but never left the forum, glad your staying on here. It's good to try other things, and ultimately end back full circle with another Skoda haha :)

Hey Mark,

As others have said, one of the best mk1 Octavias out there and whereas I put my yellow peril back to standard you moved yours on to the next level. I think yours and Rob's red wagon down under have always set the standard. Just don't think any other Skoda model old or new has been so adaptable. Just hoping my yellow peril no.2 gets somewhere close to your creation.

Clive, you take care of Bowder's machine, promise not to break it!

She will be loved buddy

Already booked in to have all the body done to be 1000%

And then she is having a a makeover to take her up a level

I will make her more amazing

Great car

You need to change your user name to 'Iownthebestvrs'

Mark, cars a credit to you.

Never seen pro race 1.2's look good on anything but they look awesome on this.

WRC spoilers usually look stupid on a non WRC but again looks awesome on this and that engine bay is just a work of art.

Really is the best example around. So glad its staying in one piece.

I like them too.

Love the AUDI A4 shape. I was looking for a RS4 2.7bi turbo last year when you could get one for around the £10k mark. Now they have shot up to £14k+ so looking for a RS6 as next car .....

Man, sad to see you give her away but saw this on Facebook, in good hands with Clive though.

Yours is how I want mine to look, in time.

It was not a easy thing to let go at all but the price and the new owner made it feel right .

I have actually forgot more mods than I can remember lol. And it felt like a brand new car. She will be missed ....
