L&K Canton Sound System Buttons removable?

Featured Replies

This probably seems a really strange question, but how do you remove the selector buttons for the canton sound system? Do they just prise off from the front with a thin blade/tool? Are they a 'friction' fit? Anyone ever had reason to do this?

Unlikely anyone's had to do this on the latest version of the Columbus unit. Go on - why do you want / need to do this?

couple of videos about Columbus in Youtube

Kids+Can of coke=accident.  over front of Colombus...bit worried about corrosion etc behind the buttons and would like to clear it up properly!

Happy to see if they pop off the front but wanted to check if any techy user had previous experience.

You let them have Coke? Near the Columbus? Nooooo! I'm not even going to let myself have Coke when mine arrives lol ;-)

I'd be very surprised if they pop off, I think the best thing to do is remove the entire unit from the dash and start from it's rear.

There are screws holding the rear metal panel on, then probably a second set holding the PCB in place at which point you should have access to clean anything that needs it.

Thanks all, I`ll give it a go!

I think they pop off.

I've seen a Bolero Sat Nav upgrade video they just change the Media button to a Media/Nav button by popping off.

Yes, they're friction fit. Small instrument will enable them to slide out and push back in very easily. Thanks

Potentially useful to know, so I will move this to the ICE forum (with a link left in the S3 section)

Actually just noticed a few discrepancies:
