Not sure about nowdays but a coupla year back I was changing Michelin PS2'S for Conti SC3'S as the PS2'S wore really quick. The tyre man said "it's not surprising, the Conti 's have 2mm more tread straight outta the moulds" FFS it's no wonder they wore quick, dunno if it's still the case.

The cross climates, from what i read, only have 7mm's of tread to start with?

So that sounds about right for life.

 

On the flip side of that I've found Conti SC5's wear very quickly - so it might not be a huge difference in the grand scheme of things?

Or possibly it's just how and where i drive that's the problem

I agree the CSC5'S don't last long,I get about 10 or 11K with a coupla rotations but, they grip the road really well which can encourage some downright abuse at times. Not good below 8 deg.C but in every other condition I have complete faith in them which counts for a bit more than longevity in my book at least.
