Vrs start up

Featured Replies

Would turning over a mk2 vrs before the fuel pump has primed and Dials have returned to zero cause the car to be funny? might be a coincident but maybe now as I have had a juddering while driving before I take it into skoda

Cheers

When your car is parked and cold, open the drivers door and the Fuel Primes,

before the key ever goes in the Ignition.

So the dial Sweep period might have nothing to do with any issue.

(When the car has been run / warmed up, then Priming when door opens not needed.)

Inline Fuel Filter can need changing.

Air Filter / Intake can cause issues.

or the Map, (update needed)

BOV can, etc etc.

?

What is the issue.?

The engine should start, go to 1,100 rpm,

and be back to about 800 rpm within 40 seconds.

Ok so I had been driving it no problem then got back in about 30/40mins afterwards,

Pulled off pretty much straight away and about 2k had abit of a judder,

Then about2 mins later jumps from about 1.5k to just over 2k went back to normal and hasn't happend since no fault code plugged diagnostic in nothing

Has got custom induction

No BOV

And has just has its second service Saturday,

Any help is great?

Have you changed the spark plugs, by any chance? I believe there is a revised standard plug being used by dealerships now. After I had them changed a few months back, the car seems to idle a little more roughly initially before smoothing out. I've had it on a dyno since, and all was as it should be when warm.

How many miles has the car done?

So is this 2nd Service since New,

Major Inspection Service.

Diagnostic done and any Software Updates or Enhancements as part of the Service.

Was this done,

was there an Update and a Road Test?

What else was done,

Oil / Filter & Pollen Filter?

Has your car needed and had the DSG Service Campaign work?

It's on 19228 and it was just an oil and filter change along with pollen and brake fluid was due so had that done aswell

Bump

It looks like it is time to get all 4 Spark Plugs out and inspect them, check what the gap is on all 4,

and you are as well to change them for what ever the latest Recommended VW OEM plug is and gap.

The Service Schedule is 40,000 miles,

very few CAVE or CTHE engines have all 4 last that long.  3 might, the 4th does not.

The Brake Fluid was due if your car is 3 years old. Or it was tested and needed changed because of Moisture content.

?

Is your car 3 years old?

I had the plugs changed about November time and they were re gapped if you remember when I mentioned about the eml and epc came on and yeah car is coming up 3 year old in March, do you thing it's worth just getting them changed by skoda for what it's worth

Hopefully plugs are fine.

Best have some Official Dealership check out any issues while you are in Warranty.

Are you buying an extended warranty from Skoda?

  • Author

Yeah I am going to but when I spoke to my dealer **** they want to charge me for a 1hr worth of diagnostic, can this be right

It is right that they can charge it.

Also that if there is some reason for Warranty discovered from the Diagnostics that Skoda will then have to pay it.

& if the Dealership Technicians did something to cause a fault, like during a Software Update that the Dealership will be paying.

So they need to check their work, no sensor with a bad connection, or a breather pipe off or the likes.

First they can assure you nothing they did, then maybe you will have to pay,

but best find out if anything is not quite right.
