My16 - Rapid SB - Loud Fuel Pump

Im not been picky honest.... but i am finding the fuel pump is very loud on tick over, can only be heard from outside but you can hear it buzzing like no tomorrow.  Cant recall hearing it on other cars unless when priming..

Anyone else is the same ?

If you can hear it over the engine it must be noisy ;)

I'll have a listen to mine tomorrow, but it's not unusual to hear a fuel pump whizzing away from outside the car.

Wow, that's loud! The 1.6 flavour is almost silent!

Same here on the 1.6 tdi. Appears to be louder in cold weather after the car slept outside the garage. Had to pay attention to notice it, not really worried actually

Cheers.. Yeah this was starting from cold, amb temp 1'c when I noticed it.

Make sense as diesel is more viscous at colder temps.

Might be worth mentioning it next time it's in for repair, but it's probably fine :)

The cold as a reason also explains why I don't have it in mine. The low temp warning beep/indicator just came on last weekend, and I have the car almost a year now!

geez!!!! sounds like its on its way out!!!

Will soon see as i have got a few miles planned for it this weekend.

Temps were 0.5degC this morning, took a quick film of mine, but I'd be embarrassed to share it ;) , and being a petrol not much use I don't think?

ETA - sod it, here's mine. You can just hear it when I put the camera in the wheel arch. The engine is running I promise :P
