Rear fog and brake light mods

Featured Replies

So I am thinking about wiring in my 2nd rear fog light so that both rear fogs come on at the same time for better visibility and redundancy, has anyone done this? If so please can they take pics of their installation and provide step by step instructions?

Also I'm then thinking of wiring in the 2 rear fog lights to the brake lights again for better visibility and redundancy. Likewise if anyone can provide step by step instructions on this that would be very much appreciated also! If it could do rear side lights with a dual filament bulb all the better but I'm guessing there would be more to it for this?

I'm looking for advice on quick and easy installs please ie add x bulb add x wire from x bulb to x connector to make x result work. TIA!

Pretty sure Basil did this many moons ago and did a guide, have you had a search?

Just remember the MOT & Construction and Use.

So the Fog Lights can not be coming on with the use of the Braking System.

(I know this refers to vehicles other than passenger cars, but the same applies concerning Rear Fog Lights.)

If you are stopped with your foot on the Brake then the Brake Lights will be on & you have Fog Light / s on until

a vehicle is behind, then you can switch off the Fogs, and apply the Hand Brake maybe.

Both rear fogs is easy, just run a wire from the offside one to the nearside cluster.  Neither will be quite as bright as the one was on its own because of doubled voltage drop down the feed wire from the fusebox, and the fuse is more likely to blow unless you uprate it, which will then leave the wire under-protected against faults. And they'll look like brake lights and cause more delays whenever you use them.  I'm all in favour really. :)

Brake lights/foglights, just don't. You've already got three, haven't you?
