Skodi Yeti reversing camera

Featured Replies

Just popping in from the Octy section hoping someone can help my father in law out.

He is ordering a Skoda Yeti Outdoor 1.2 SE L DSG in jungle green on Thursday. Unfortunately the SE L is highest trim level he can order.

He really wants a reversing camera. He has been quoted £755 for the Amundsen+ and £300 for the camera. He doesn't particularly want a sat nav so paying £1055 for a reversing camera seems a bit steep.

Is it possible to retrofit a reversing camera to a Bolero?

If so, is there anywhere in the Midlands who would fit and code this for him? He is in his 70's and doesn't want to do the retrofit himself.

Any advice would be greatly received.

Using the Yeti configurator Camera is £300 and Sat Nav £600, however if you select camera does not state you also need to add Sat Nav, would be worth checking with sales person or are the trying to sell you more than you need. I cant fully comment as did not spec a camera on my Yeti 2 and opted to have android auto installed so I can use phone sat nav.

I'm pretty sure the bolero can't handle a reversing camera.

Why does he not order the camera at £300 with the standard Bolero ??
I have just been on the configurator and it accepted it without saying the Amundsen is required.

Edit: Also the January 2016 brochure states it as a £300 option and does not say that the Amundsen is need for it to be added.
The Bolero is the same size screen.

I suspect the salesman needs a talking to.

Thanks for all the advice so far.

I was under the impression rightly or wrongly that you can't spec a reversing camera without the Amundsen+

I'm hoping for a definitive yes he can order the reversing camera with the Bolero or not or he can retrofit a reversing camera with a Bolero or not.

Hopefully one way or another I can save him a few pennies.

That assumes the configurator and brochure are right, which given Skoda's track record is not too likely.

Also most sales staff's knowledge about the cars they sell is eclipsed by their knowledge of particle physics.

Skoda website:

Enjoy easy parking with the rear view camera in the tailgate handle. It is automatically activated when reverse gear is engaged. Combined exclusively with both the Bolero or Amundsen infotainment, the system uses their displays to show the space behind the car and to indicate the driving line, based on the vehicle width. The camera is always supplied with parking sensors and can be combined with the Park Assist.

Thanks Jim.

I just looked and it quite clearly states that the reversing camera is an option with the Bolero and yet the link below states its only available with a sat nav.

Looks like I can't even get a definitive answer from the Skoda website.

I am going with him tomorrow and will let you know how we get on.

Could you fit a dashcam of the two camera variety

and use the rear facing camera to reverse, £200

The only extra I specced on my SEL last year was the reversing camera .

It is excellent and you definitely don't need to Spec the Sat Nav.

The hard brochure has the camera as optional for all models and as the SE and SE L have the Bolero it will work with it if selected as an option.

Thanks Jim.

I suspect it could be that possibly the SE and SE L "option's" web page is incorrectly copied over from the standard 'S' model which only has the non touch-screen 'Swing' radio system which wouldn't support the reversing camera?

Thank you to everyone for their comments. I hopefully will have an answer tomorrow afternoon although as some already confirm they have an SE L with Bolero and reversing camera, I am now optimistic.

I am looking forward to him ordering and having his Yeti delivered!

Well that was an interesting afternoon. Just as the salesman confirms that he can order the reversing camera with the Bolero, he changes his mind and says I want the reversing camera AND the Amundsen. AND I want it in moon white rather than jungle green.

It's his money, it's his car and he has got to be happy so I didn't moan too much.

Definitely looking forward to it arriving now!

My last one was Moon White. Really suits the Yeti.

Yeti 2 on order will be Moon White, seriously thought about Jungle Green, but SHMBO did not like it.

I snapped this Yeti at the dealership yesterday:

It's not an SE L nor an Outdoor but does show how good a Yeti looks in moon white!

Looks very clean....for now. B)

Moon White looks great, and is a lot whiter than some other whites which can appear more cream.

However much prefer the outdoor version.

Time will tell on how clean it stays or how often needs to be cleaned.

My problem with the outdoor version is the silver door mirrors! Why can't they be body coloured like the city version? Looks half finished to me.

Thanks, he spec'd the reversing camera in the end but is bound to want other coding done, cornering fogs etc. He only lives minutes from you so I will give you a call when it arrives!

my dealer wanted £100 to spray them...I left them silver.

Why not try what Wakev did?  He had a Muscovado with silver mirrors but was getting nowhere with the dealer. As it happened I PXd

my earlier Musco and he got the dealer to swap mine with his! Have a look at your dealer's used stock and see if they'll do the same.

You can replace the silver mirror covers for black for about £40,I've still got the silver ones boxed if anybody needs them.
