DRL problems

Featured Replies

Just got my 62 plate Fabia Monte Carlo a few month ago and I've recently decided to make a few upgrades. First of which to upgrade my DRLs to LEDs. But... my DRLs won't go on, I've tried flicking the switch in the fuse box but that doesn't work. I've even tried to do the indicator malarkey from the cars manual. Has anyone else had this problem and solved it or am I better off just taking it to a skoda dealership and getting them to sort it?

Have you checked the fuse for them?

I'm assuming you've got the ignition on when you've been playing with the switch?

try removing the led bulb, and fitting it the opposite way around

If its both that don't work then as stated above, likely a fuse

Another cause (tho unlikely) is its turned off elsewhere....by this I'm thinking there's a DRL on/off setting in Carista that a former owner may have tinkered with?

Have you tried back in the bulbs you removed to get them working if they were all good?

Then once you have DRL's again try different bulbs?

There is a toggle in Carista to enable/disable the DRL's so it might be that, can't think why someone would do that though I love my DRL's :P

Think they must of been turned of with the carista settings. I tried putting the original bulbs back in and they didn't work and also tried switching around the new led bulbs but that didn't work either.

Sorry could you be clear,

were the DRL's not working when you got the car with the original bulbs, before you changed them for LED's.

Or did they work, and no longer do?

Stick normal bulbs in and see if they work first, lost count of leds ive bought that just dont work

Yeah the DRL's have never been on whilst I've owned the car

Is there a switch in the Fuse box!? Some (pre-Facelift) Fabbys have a switch, My Facelift Greenie has a hole where the switch should be!! Stops people switching the DRL's off easily!!

Yeah it has a switch so I think they have been turned off by carista. I've ordered carista now so hopefully it's that but if not there's a few other setting I'd like to change so won't be a complete waste of money

Just got in from work and my OBD2 dongle I ordered off ebay had arrived, plugged it in and tried to connect to the carista app on my Samsung Galaxy S6 edge but it wouldn't work. So I tried using my ipad and it did connect. I saw that the DRLs had been disabled but I don't have the time to mess about with it tonight so I'll buy the full version of carista tomorrow and see if I can solve my problem.

Carista is so user friendly. I was really annoyed, I like to spend ages on things and have a lot to do, not so with Carista you select yes/no or on/off, no fun lol worth the money though. My fav change was enabling the horn to work without the ignition being on

Little update, bought the pro version of carista and I can't activate DRLs by that (a warning sign comes up). I'll have to take it to my local dealership when I find the time, probably next weekend. On the plus side I got a few handy mods via the carista app, probably worth the 20 quid in total I paid.

Some MOT tester is currently failing my vRS on having no Sidelights and wants to change the fuse to get them working.

Not believing me the car has working Sidelights when you switch them on, and the DRL's are switched off.

Tell him to stop being a bell!! The VRS' do have sidelights, when (as you said) turn the light switch once the DRL's dim. If he doesn't believe you tell him to stop MOT'ing your car and you'll take it elsewhere.  The little blue lights (actually shine white/yellow) next to the main light are dummy lights to fill the space.
