Out here dealership margins on new car sales are so slim the salesman will be in trouble if he doesn't insist you talk to the rep spruiking the profitable extras.

Dealership profit is mainly from the severely depreciated asset valuation of your p-ex from the second hand devision plus the servicing and parts devisions.

I happen to have an Autoglym kit here acquired 'free' (long story) awaiting the arrival of our new Yeti, which I will DIY apply. Thanks for the tip about keeping it away from plastic trim. Big roll of masking tape needed me thinks!

I would use something like 'frog tape' rather than masking tape, it's much easier to remove and will hopefully not leave a sticky residue or remove things that masking tape can sometimes do.

As for purchasing 'lifeshine' et al; when I collected my Scout there was a rather nice presentation case in the boot containing all sorts of wonderful 'lifetime you can't bend it' products. I told the salesman that I hadn't ordered it (nor was it on the invoice) and he informed me that they have so much of it lying around they give away a certain number.

I have it on my Digital Certificate. What I think its the Gen 3 Ceramic coating. https://www.gen-3.co.uk/our-range which AFAICS is only available to professional detailer's etc. because it has to be put of carefully and takes 24 hours to cure.  it is the preferred system for several UK  Brands such as VAG. Ceramic coatings have a 3-7 year warrantee. Most of the petrol-heads I know always have ceramic coating on their cars. Then you never need to wax them, in fact you shouldn't do it.  All you use is shampoo and water and you get an "showroom" shine easily. The more important point for me is it protects the paint far better than wax.

I searched for "Škoda G3 Gold" on the Interweb thing and the first couple of links were to this very thread!

 

I found G3 Gold as an item on my digital certificate dated about 3 days before I picked up the car. Only looked at the certificate yesterday. and wondered what it was.
We had asked for ceramic coating, as it is well worth it on a new car.
