How Can This Be Right

Featured Replies

I live on the outskirts of Dover. When I travel to work I use the A20, this has a 40mph limit on my homeward journey with average speed cameras. It is now common knowledge that foreign drivers will not be fined for breaking the limit, surely this cannot be right

If a British driver was doing the same speed as "Jonny Foreigner" why should the Brit pay if the other guy gets away scot free ?

Could this not be racism towards a Brit?

1 )  "It is now common knowledge"

2 ) "Mr Hopper claims".............

3 ) "The Express contacted Kent Police for a comment and to find if officials will attempt to prosecute the speeding HGVs."

When you have some facts, or the local Police respond, perhaps you will be kind enough to come back and update us.

Incidentally, the British are not a race so there can be no racism.

Racist? Are all 'British' people one colour and all 'Foreigners' another?

It also works the same way abroad, thats life.

Because its easier to track and fine a vehicle registered to this country.

It works both ways. i was flashed by a few cameras on the bike whilst in France, Beligium and Holland last year.. did i hear anything? nah, its not worth their efforts tbh. Somebody local would of most likely got the letter through, if they did the same thing

UK an NI regged cars are known to cross the border into ROI and vice versa over here and get caught speding with no follow up at the moment. Penalty points are not inter jurisdictional (sp?) So even you get stopped by a cop you may get the fine but no points applied. Theirs talks to close these loop holes, but with some offences being diferent points rates its tricky - should your home or location of offence rate apply..

as said its just not worth it.

Aside from the stories of police chases abruotly stopping at the border due to change in authority...
