Cam / Timing belt replacement

Featured Replies

My Fabia is a 2007, 57-reg 1.9 TDI.

Mileage now between 47 and 48k.

As far as I'm aware, this has never been replaced, but cannot find a definitive answer as to whether I should consider mileage as the only indication of wear, or if I should be replacing it after, say 6 years (the car is now over 8 years old).

Looks like I'd be well advised to replace the water pump and related pulleys, etc, to make efficient use of labour / time for disassembly, etc.

I did about 8,000 miles last year, and seldcom do less than 6,000 in a year. Next service is due at the end of November / early December. Should I aim to have it done before then?

Used to be 120.000 kms.

Four years or 60k, water pump & idler as well.

Just done my 57 plate with Gates kit (90k), second change from new.
