Unless I'm being thick and haven't noticed it before, but I think I have a fault with my mirror controls.  If I turn the knob to R and adjust the mirror position, the left one moves also.  Dodgy wiring? Or is it supposed to do that when in reverse? It happens regardless of the gear I'm in so I'm asking in case it's a reverse gear sensor issue or something.

Serves me right for not searching... apparently it's normal.  Had the car a year and honestly can't say I've every noticed it!

I don't have maxidot which is why I find it very confusing.  I'm usually really geeky and like to find all the cool 'hidden features' of my cars, so I'm really surprised I've not known about this after 13 months of ownership...

Then maybe you need a computer with VCDS software. That might be the solution.

The idea of one switch position does both sides is so you can dip both mirrors when reversing or if you have two drivers then, if you are lucky, only one knob to adjust settings between drivers. Personally I can never remember whether it is the L or R position as I always leave the switch in the heated mirrors position.
