Bolero sd card size

Featured Replies

My Bolero radio (2013) has a 32gb SD card in it, which I believe is the maximum size supported, does anybody know if the latest Bolero being fitted support larger SD card sizes. Had a look through the online manual but cant see a maximum size specified, ideally would like to use at least a 64gb one for music in Yeti 2 soon to be collected..

I can't recall exactly, but I seem to remember someone saying they're using a mahoosive one, 256Gb or so.

The latest Bolero unit manual says SD, SDHC and SDXC cards are supported but no size given.

SDXC cards appear to be of higher capacity, 64, 128 and 200GB so by the law of averages they should be OK.

Ensure it/they are formatted Fat 16 or 32.

I've got a 64Gb SanDisk SDXC Class 10 card in my Amundsen II and it works without fault. In fact, I'm very impressed with just how quickly it reads/indexes the the card contents when I click it into the slot. The handbook for the new Bolero and Amundsen units is combined and makes no distinction between the two with respect to media cards and playback. I've seen no mention in it of the maximum SD card size, which is a bit strange. I didn't have to format it. Just shoved it in my PC's card reader and dragged a load of folders to it.

For reference: I've ripped just over 300 albums to the SDXC card in highest quality WMA variable bit rate format and that's used about 20Gb. So a single 64Gb card should take around 1,000 albums, so comfortably outstrips my entire CD collection, which is a bit belittling!

64gb shdc  works flawlessly on a mk1(?) Amundsen in my adventure!

Thanks might ask the dealer when next in, but seems safe to assume a 64gb will work OK, which should be more than enough music to keep me going.

I have a 16 gig class 10 card with about 11gigs worth of mp3's on it, and it takes an age to read the card, if I want to change album, it can take over 2 minutes! Anyone know what the problem might be?

Thanks

Is it a reputable brand of card and was it filled in one go or edited / added to?

First thing I would do is eject it, turn off, reinsert and try again.

If that does not help back it up, reformat and reload

Finally backup and copy in one chunk to a good brand of card like Sandisk (example) and not an eBay one even if branded as too many fakes

Some are not going to like this but I think it is because there is too much on the card, I have an 8GB card with about 90 albums and it's fine, if I wanted any more I'd get another SD card.

My 32GB one had no issues.

My titchie 64GB flash drive likewise

How much music is on them?

Albums and MBs?

My 64 flash drive I think has ~ 7000 'tracks' with artwork with ~ 10GB available still but the Pugs head unit shows only 4000 for some reason....maybe because I have 'random' tracks selected

The old SD card would have had ~ 4000 tracks

I've never made a note of the number of albums though

I know this is a very old thread but I've only just aquired my 2011 Octavia with 6 CD changer Bolero unit and I have some SD Card info which may help others.

64 GB Card, FAT32 = NO ISSUES

128 GB Card, ExFAT = NOT RECOGNISED

128 GB Card, FAT32 = NO ISSUES (used dashcam software to format as FAT32)

The interesting thing on the 128 GB Card was that on loading my library, only the first 10,000 (ish) tracks show up. In my case the alphabetical listing ended at "Tina Turner" whereas the last album should have been "Yes".

On examination the Tina Turner album and all preceding added up to 10,250 (ish) tracks, when I removed albums and bought the total tracks to just under 10,000 tracks they all showed up ... RESULT ... and that's more than enough for me 😃

So summarising, it appears the limitation is not card size but total songs, limited to around 10,000.
