Washer Bottle Top-up 'bong'

Featured Replies

Why is it so loud when it goes off?!

Is there any way to turn it off or down in settings (or even VCDS) - don't mind the maxi-dot reminder but the bong makes you jump (and its not like the wheels are about to fall off!) . I'm not sure ifs its now a legal requirement to have the reminder (i know its technically illegal to have an empty bottle) - but i kinda know when the washer bottle is empty as it stops working!

I'm bit OCD with windscreen dirt so tend to use the washer a lot and hence get the bong a lot, especially as the roads have been salted so much the last few days.

Been away a while, just wondering if anyone worked out if this can be done via VCDS/OBDeleven etc, as its getting on my wick now we're into gritted roads again.

Or equally is there any way to stop the bloody thing repeating itself 10 times on a 30 minute journey?!

I think its because the level of the water moves around at the 'sensor point', so i end up actually squirting about 1 litre in one go to at least get it to stay on and not keep going on and off. Does the same in the wife scout. The sensor seems to be set at around half empty (pessimistic skoda i think!).

Yeah I tried that, but even if I empty it some more it still pops up every 10 minutes or so...really annoying!

Haha same as the fuel tank...even when it's said 0 miles the most I've ever managed to put in is 45 litres! Supposed to be a 50 litre tank!

It can be coded out with VCDS however you lose all warn wings not just the bong.

Yes... fill the bottle up.

Touché Gizmo!

Mine annoys me for emptying the bloody well so quickly, I'm sure my headlamps go off every other screen press  :envy:

Headlamps only wash when the lights are on.

I think it is a good idea. When commuting to Buxton in the winter I was constantly using my washers. I was using so much fluid I almost ran out a few times and was grateful for the bong. A quick top up then was back on the road.

Agreed the bong for low fuel does make me jump as well.

This is the same bong when outside temp hits 4°C, and then when you drive in area around 4°C, you get bongs constantly as temperature raises/falls down. this is annoying.

Using vcds you can increase the time until headlight washer activates when you wash windscreen.

In my FL you only got one bong when it hit 4C or the fuel level was low or the washer level was low. My new MkIII only bongs once as well. Repeated bongs WOULD be annoying.

Would be much easier if you could control it in the cars menu settings. I don't have access to VCDS.
