Mobility scooter hoist in a hatchback?

Featured Replies

My wife's looking for a suitable scooter/wheelchair hoist for her Fabia so that she can go further afield without needing me to be there to load/unload it.  If we take my car (Super estate) then I do all the heavy lifting.

The scooter is sub 80kg so we believe that one of the mini lifts will do the job.  The size of the scooter means that it will be split down into it's components before loading anyway.

Has anyone had a hoist fitted and, if so, how do you find it for a) loading and B) taking up space when it's not in use? We're looking at the Elap v40 and the auto-chair min-hoist at the mo.

Any info appreciated.

Would a roomster not be more ideal for her needs?

i have to agree, a rooster surely would make a lot more sense, less need to split the scooter down i bet, still get the deg box etc on it

She loves the Fabia and would never go for a Roomster  :D  We have looked at a new Fabia estate but it doesn't make financial sense to change and if she were to change car she'd go for a brand new one which rules out the Roomster.

I was more after whether anyone had had one fitted and their experiences.

Would a roomster not be more ideal for her needs?

My thoughts exactly mate (:

You can't get a new Roomster is what the OP has said ?

Yup, they stopped making them a while ago and we really don't want one  :notme:

We've got one of the fitting companies coming out next week to give some advice.

Thanks all!
