Sticky buttons

Featured Replies

The media and radio buttons have gone suspiciously stiff and are slow to move/react.

My money is on five year old and carton of orange juice or similar.

Any ideas on solutions?

You need something like contact cleaner you can spray liberally over it in the hope it will dissolve it, but not short anything. Mind you, I did that once with a can of coke (in a seat that had the cupholder on the top of the dash) and it was never the same again)

What about warm water with a few drops of washing up liquid - spray it on lightly, wait a few seconds then vacuum it up with a handheld.

No idea if that would work, but let us all know if it does for future reference.

I'm not sure what I would use but I don't think I'd go this route. I'd start with some compressed air to remove what you can of whatever is in there before you go down any liquid routes

I might even consider some careful heating with a hairdryer or similar and pressing the button, see if you can free it a little more and at least make it less noticeable.

I agree with Mallettsmallett, contact cleaner is probably your best bet aside from taking it all apart.

Steer clear of using water as this could permanently damage the small circuit board underneath the buttons.

Try the solvent cleaner FE10 ensure car is off to prevent power to head unit.

Pull off knobs if possible and spray in the FE10 and dab it around with cotton buds. Use a canned air (air duster) to dry off and remove residues.

Let us know if it doesn't work either.
