Fabia 1.2TSI DSG

OK bought the car - couple of minor niggles but as far as the DSG goes - it is indeed a 7 gear auto.

Not much I can say other than it works as I expected it to - very similar to my old BMW auto - the BMW auto was 2002 so possibly older tech - BMW I would say was slightly smoother - helped on by the power - but the DSG is sufficient.

I already msis the pwoer of the BMW but the 1.2 TSI is good enough - especially as it appears to be giving me an extra 20mpg (approx 41mpg on mainly motorway driving so far).

shark, I thought the new 7 spd DSG was just a twin dry clutch unit but of course with oil in the oily geary bits! The old wet clutch units...errrrr...were wet as you say!

yeah thats right :) just that the oil has to do the clutches too in the 6-speed, I guess because it has more work to do , (and different work, don't know the teccie stuff) thats why the oil needs changing, but not in the dry clutch box..... I'm making suppositions, because thats the only difference in the way the boxes work...

Right, I can see where you are coming from.

I did a London and back trip over the weekend, just over 600miles and I am staggered to report i got 72.3MPG.  That's worked out by odometer and ltrs in on fuelly (the dash said 68).

I still cannot believe it!  Fabia 1.2TSI Elegance!  It seems the key is sticking to around 60mph, I noticed that at lower speeds the mpg creeped up as it did at faster speeds.

My wife has a 2013 Fabia 1.2 TSi which has a 7 speed box. I love to dive this car, it is super fast, has a rip snotty note when accelerating and has a truly sublime gearbox! We just got it serviced today @ 28,000 miles. Needs new front rubber and had to put new disks and pads on the front.

I recently sold my 14 Skoda Octavia VRs and bought a Volvo XC60 D5 AWD geartronic Polestar. It's a real mean machine, but I still love to drive my wife's Fabia. It the best car she ever had, and that includes a MKI Diesel Fabia VRs.
