60 plate vrs with funny knocking noise in engine bay!

Featured Replies

Hi. My skoda has started to make a funny knocking noise. It starts as soon as the engine it started and gets faster to the point of not being able to hear it when you drive it or rev it, it sounds like it's coming from the left hand side of the engine bay ( if your looking head on at the car) it's just had a new gearbox fitted and it quite literally started out of no where... Any ideas... It's kinda like it sounds like it's turning desiel...

Go straight back to the dealer who did the gearbox work in case it's connected to that work. It could literally be anything and without hearing the noise it's not possible to be accurate. Could be a hydraulic valve lifter gone bad, or a piston knocking or valve issue developing but best get it checked out at the dealer. Or it could be nothing to worry about or something cured with a turn of the nut or bolt. Good luck.

^^^^^ The Workshop needs their Master Tech to check the work that was done, or someone to check the Master Techs if He / She did the work.

& Properly Check the not small or cheap job they did.

Those taking Warranties out, Skoda Approved or other Warranty Providers Cover.

See posts #142 & #143 in this thread.  (People let VW off the hook to easily IMO.)

It is a farce with VW / Skoda, they had Fundamental Design, Manufacturing, Component and Software issues,

and then a VW Group owned Warranty Company says there are known design faults.

Exactly, known by VW who try to tell owners they have no Warranty after they let 2 or 3 years of faulty builds go.

VW, Skoda, Audi & Seat make it up as they go along as do UK Customer Services and the Warranty Providers.
